I'd like to put up another avatar, but, I'm probably the least "technical" person on the board, and can't figure it out. Could somebody post steps - baby steps, one at a time - on how to post an avatar. If it helps, the picture I want to use is already in My Pictures in My Documents. Thanks.

Only if you listen to TLOS once a week Grin

Okay, here's my method: Go to photobucket.com and join, it's free, very easy and very safe.

From there, there should be an option on how to upload pictures. Since your's is in "My Pictures," go ahead and do that option. After you have there should be an option to "Save and get Links." The second link listed, "Direct Link" is the one to put in your profile info here at Shut Down. Photo should appear and your done.

Yeah, I got some pictures in an album on Photobucket, but I don't know how to get them onto this board.

OK, select an image from your album and to the left of the page there is a section that says "Share this image" with four options, the second being "DIRECT LINK." Select that one, and then go into your profile and when it says upload your own picture, insert the link you found.

I'm sorry, I did that and nothing happens; I must be doing something wrong.

Did you click the 'Change Profile' button at the bottom of 'Forum Profile Information' screen?

Once you have the URL for the picture you want to link to, the steps are

1. Click on Profile in the menu bar near the top of this page
2. Click on Forum Profile Information in the menu on the left
3. Select the 'I have my own pic:' radio button
4. Paste in the picture URL to the box to the right of this button
5. Click on 'Change profile' button at bottom of screen (you may have to scroll down to see this)

Voila.

Thanks, Howard, for your help. This is where I'm stuck; I can't/don't know how to "paste" in the picture URL to the box to the right of the button. Nothing happens.
