Not great, is it?  However, there is some great singing and some of the songs are substantial - the Nilsson cover, Run Don't Walk, Like a Brother and a couple others.  Nothing special, but in retrospect, I wish Carl had done more with them.

A 6.  A few better songs and performances here than on Carl's 'solo' lps but it is kind of milk-toasty.  Glad to have it but it doesn't sit in my high rotation pile.

"No Wilsons...NO Beach Boys."  I find it impossible to argue with THAT.

Beckley and Lamm are alright on the cd, but Carl's songs are what make it for me. Feels like he was relieved to be working with a couple guys that treated him as an equal (unlike Mr. Love), really getting to the heart of things with songs like "I Wish for You" (written for his sons), "They're Only Words" and "Like A Brother" (written for Brian).

Nice CD, and one which has aged surprisingly gracefully.

I'm not sure if that's "high praise" or a lack of cynicism.  I'm only teasing!  It has it's moments, and Carl was so easy to love, that it's hard not to embrace whatever.

I like it! There are a lot of nice songs on it. "Today" is fantastic... I love "I wish for you", Carlīs last song written for his sons. "Like a brother" is a great tune too.

The things that I donīt like are "Run donīt walk" and... one other song, but I forgot the title...

One of my favorite parts of the album is when Gerry & Carl are singing.... "is my memory clearer as the day we met. I can hear, a silent screem, crying in the night..."

I give it a 9.  I remember buying this at Tower Records, going to my car, and just staring at it.  I couldn't believe that it had survived all the potential red tape and had actually been released.  And then I felt a wave of sadness, realizing that this would be the last new material I'd be hearing that prominently featured Carl.  I was going through some significant changes in my life at the time (positive ones) but those times were not without drama.  But my overall memories of those times are good, and this album brings me back to that time.  Of course my favorite tracks are the four Carl leads, but Robert Lamm's Feel The Spirit is awesome as well.

Similar experience for me, Eric. "I Wish for You" brought tears to my eyes, because it reminded me of someone who was no longer a part of my life. I played it for her, and her response was something like "why did that make you think of me? I treated you like garbage."

My favorite track is "I Wish For You," I danced with my Mom to this song at my wedding.  I think it is a perfect parent child dance for a wedding.
