's a beautiful album, isn't it? Runs the gamut of emotions...the hope, the joy, the despair...it's all here.
And every song has a heartbeat in it somewhere. Just listen...listen...

It stands the test of time perhaps better than any of its 'contemporaries'. With SMiLE...a perfect bookend to all that was right about the Rock 'n' Roll era. 40 years young and every bit as important today as it was upon its release. Light years ahead of that which was then...or now for that matter.
A perfect 10.

"No Wilsons...NO Beach Boys." I find it impossible to argue with THAT.

Brian Wilsons best solo effort with some notable appearances by BeachBoys personnel.

Ten automatically. I've listened to it too much recently and need to step back. Hidden gems = That's Not Me and Don't Talk

Me, too. Played it all the time, now I tend to go for Sunflower, but the stereo version and the alternate versions on the Sessions box shed new light on some old favorites. Have turned many friends onto it over the years, the reaction is always positive.

I rated this as my favorite album on another website. No need to explain why - if you are here, you've heard it already and it speaks for itself.

If you don't give this one a 10, you shouldn't be here.

It's why I'm here, and own Friends/20-20, Today!/Summer Days, Smiley Smile/Wild Honey, and Sunflower/Surf's Up, oh, and SMiLE. My favorite album, ever. I previously, would've said The White Album by the Beatles, which is hard to top. This did it. The best. 10.

Pet Sounds still moves me, every note, every beat, every word is pregnant with emotion. The instrumental densities sound fresh and contemporary to this day. "You Still Believe In Me" is a miracle. 10 all the way.

This album jars the brain excitingly in its shifting arrangements while simultaneously giving the listener a big hug. Hard to pull that off. One of the best collective pieces of music ever recorded, and the cornerstone of my own Beach Boys tastes. (I never really went for the surfing/car stuff.)

I first heard this album in 1988; 22 years after its release. Prior to hearing Pet Sounds, I'd always kind of prided myself on knowing a lot about music. It was a harsh realization ro find out that I was quite musically retarded.

Oh man, Pet Sounds might be my favorite album of all time. A 10 and I wish I could give it a higher rating. Track by track:
Wouldn't it be Nice: Best rock opener ever! Wonderful etheral guitar intro, wonderful vocals, and just a wonderful production overall. 10/10
You Still Believe in Me: Great opening. Very innoncent sounding track. 9/10
That's Not Me: Maybe my least favorite track on this album but that's not an insult. Nice song about adjusting to life after moving out. 8/10
Don't Talk (put your head on my shoulder): Nice slow tempo song. I like how the bass line eventually sounds like a beating heart. 8.5/10
I'm Waiting for the Day: Nice song about love and heartbreak. 8.5/10
Let's Go Away for Awhile: Best rock instrumental of all time with maybe the exception of Mrs. O'Leary's Cow. 9.5/10
Sloop John B: Doesn't seem to fit on the album but it's still one of the greatest covers ever. 9/10
God Only Knows: 10/10, that's all you need to know
I Know There's an Answer: Nice vocals from Mike, Al, and Brian. Origianlly known as "Hang on to Your Ego." 8.5/10
Here Today: Nice song. Listen carefully and you can hear Brian and others talking during the recording! 8.5/10
I Just Wasn't Made For These Times: Great (biographical?) song by Brian. One of the most underrated song by the Beach Boys. 9.5/10
Pet Sounds: Another great instrumental. 8.5/10
Caroline No: Second best closer on a rock album (Day in the Life is my #1) The song was intended to be slower but Murry Wilson thought it would be a better hit sped up. I actually like the sped up version better. 10/10
